Kirk Plans Town Hall in Arlington Heights on Monday, August 24th
Even though Congressman Mark Kirk has announced his opposition to ObamaCare health legislation, he plans to host a Town Hall in Arlington Heights at 3 p.m. Monday. The location is the Arlington Heights Village Hall, 33 South Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Assuming he breaks his pattern of filibustering the meeting (i.e. talking without allowing questions), this is an opportunity for constituents to meet Kirk face-to-face. His preferred meeting would be in the teleconference mode - where questions can be filtered and where there is no face-to-face contact with voters. Kirk may even have to answer in person questions concerning his voting record in favor of partial birth abortion, tax increases and limits on 2nd amendment rights.
Earlier, at a meeting at New Trier Republican headquarters in Kenilworth, Kirk made it clear that he will try to prevent any strong primary challenge to his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. He admitted that such a candidacy might result in “pulling him to the right.”
